2026-09-17 Giga preprocessing ETA

Live Factory and Argo snapshot used to estimate the Giga preprocessing finish time.

Work Done

Read-only check of Factory rule histo-preprocessing-rpe and Argo workflows at approximately 16:20 UTC. Fresh Factory data reported 1,310 of 1,522 Giga scans done, with 212 remaining. The resubmitted batch contained 365 Giga scans. Argo showed ten running Giga-containing jobs and four waiting; one batch had finished. Recent logs showed approximately 230–240 scan completions/hour, with larger scans taking 5–7 minutes each. Estimated remaining time: 2–3 hours, allowing for the slow-job tail and assuming current capacity persists. This is a historical snapshot, not current operational status. No workloads were changed.

Pitfalls

The default Factory rule GET uses a cached vxData snapshot and overstated remaining work. Use ?cached=false for ETA counts. Workflow age includes scheduling time, so use timestamped per-scan completion logs for throughput.

Improvements

Combine fresh rule counts with per-job runtime estimates: aggregate throughput alone understates the final slow batch tail.
